Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

Just un-boxed my new index spin jig. Found a bolt and collet that fits the rotor drum. This should be a lot more accurate than last time. Need to devise a clamping between the milling table and the base of the drill press so that there is no chance of anything moving. Tomorrow the goal will be to to...

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

I noticed in the output waveform of the sensor that the amplitude is varying around the rotation and there is timing jitter between teeth. The amplitude variations are caused by slight placement differences in the line around the circumference of the wheel. Some holes are not centered under the sens...

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

Finished the flywheel modification. Drilled 35 holes at 10 degrees intervals and skipped the 36th. Produced a 36-1 missing tooth trigger wheel. Looking at the output signals it is very evident that I missed the mark on several of the holes and ended up putting some timing error into the waveforms. B...

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

This time it actually going to work. I have two Flywheels they are identical except for the places where they were factory balanced. One is on the outside of the drum and the other is on the front of the drum. I got the VR sensor mounted on the flywheel cover and the tip of the sensor is flush with ...

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

New Voltage regulator design if I decide to go that route.
But for now I am going to try to cut some "teeth" into the outside surface of the rotor drum.

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

I am shocked. I just did some research on this alternator. The regulator is not what I would call a regulator at all. It senses the output voltage of the alternator and when it gets too big it uses an SCR to short it to ground. That's a bit crude but that's the way they do it. And that's probably wh...

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

Tightned up the connection from the circuit to the alternator and most of the noise went away but still variations of pulse size between pulses.

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

Trying to create a 5v square wave off the alternator. Not very successful. Built this simple circuit to get the 12 volts down to 5 volts. Its 5 volts but full of noise and other weirdness. Signal from alternator is also full of weirdness. Yellow trace is spark coil terminal. Blue is the 5 volts from...

Re: Fuel Injector Retrofit Project

today I was about to crack open the side cover to install my newly purchased trigger wheel and I thought I would give it one more try on seeing what crank information I could get from the alternator. . this time rather than measure from phase to phase I measured from one phase to chassis ground and ...
