Hi everyone,
I’m Gerard, an embedded firmware developer with a long background in low-level real-time software, servo systems, and storage automation.
I am 74 years old, retired and these days, I operate a small country property down in Dayton, Texas, running my own off-grid/hybrid solar setup with EG4 and LuxPower inverters. Like a lot of DIY solar builders, I wanted a fast, localized monitoring and control experience that didn't rely on cloud lag or clunky manual setups—which led me to build BossMonitor.
My original project was a smart load controller that would allow me to control loads the same as the GridBoss, but located far away from the solar installation. I leveraged what i learned about the eg4 TCP protocol to create BNossMonitor. I’ve spent the last several months building and refining this platform on the ESP32-S3: writing real-time CAN bus telemetry routines, local web interfaces, and single-stream deployment paths to make setup as painless as possible.
My system currently consists of 60 400 watt bpanels, 2x Flexboss21 and a gridboss, one powerpro outdoor battery and 14 lifepower4 batteries.
I’m very greatful for this solid group of beta testers who run LuxPower or EG4 gear to put the system through its paces, share feedback, and help stress-test the features on real-world rigs.
