BossMonitor configuration options

Post by Bossmonitor »

My plan is to offer a few configurations.

BossMonitor — Hardware Configurations

Option 1 — XIAO
Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 with RS485 breakout board. This is the production unit — compact, reliable, passive
RS485 listener so it never disturbs the inverter communication bus. Ships pre-flashed, licensed, and
tested. Mount it near your inverter and plug the RS485 wires into A+/B−. Includes a DS18B20 temperature
sensor header for room temp monitoring and a JST LiPo connector for optional battery backup. (not included)
bms data still under development

Option 2 — WaveShare
WaveShare ESP32-S3-RS485-CAN development board. Larger form factor with onboard CAN transceiver, making
it the right choice if you have a Pylontech-compatible battery bank (PowerPro, EG4-LL, etc.) and want
CAN bus BMS data alongside inverter monitoring. Ships pre-flashed, licensed, and tested.

Option 3 — Firmware License Only (BYOH)
Already have an ESP32-S3 board ? Purchase a firmware license and flash it yourself.
Supported hardware: Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 with Seeed RS485 breakout, or WaveShare ESP32-S3-RS485-CAN. Flash via
the ESP Web Tools installer at our website (Chrome browser, no drivers needed), then activate your
license. Full instructions included.

All three options include the same web dashboard, MQTT/Home Assistant integration, Pushover alerts, OTA
updates, and GridBoss SP port control and Shelly smart device support.
